Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing which channels Ki/Chi, the life force energy, to help to heal ailments, relax the body and reduce stress. Reiki energy is channeled through an attuned practitioner who uses special symbols to direct divine healing through their hands, called the “laying on hands” technique. The word Reiki comes from the word Rei- God’s wisdom/ Higher power and Ki- Life force energy, evoking the intention of a spiritually guided life force energy practice. Reiki is a natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that can be helpful to everyone. It has been effective in aiding almost every known illness and malady and always generates a beneficial effect. It also works in assisting all other medical or therapeutic techniques to help recovery and alleviate side effects. Reiki can be practiced on or taught to anyone, regardless of their age, beliefs, culture etc. It is spiritual in nature yet not religious nor holds any dogmatic stands. While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Practicing simple ethical ideals in daily life, which are universal across all cultures, can help promote balance, peace and harmony while receiving or practicing Reiki.
