Kundalini Yoga

A 5,000 Year Old Tradition for Vitality in the Modern Times.

Kundalini Yoga Will Reconstruct the Flow of Your Energy, Bringing Your Life Force to its Fullest Capacity!

Kundalini Yoga s an ancient and sacred yogic tradition practiced thousands of years ago by yogic masters who passed down this remarkable healing practice to only a selected few that deemed worthy its transformative powers. It was in the 1970s when Yogi Bhajan broke the rules of the secretive tradition and unveiled the sacred practice to west, luckily for us. The word Kundalini refers to a concentrated form of energy at the base of the spine, a “sleeping, coiled snake”, that lives in each of us and can be activated to open our greatest potential for a vibrant and fulfilling life. Although there are many ways to awaken the Kundalini, Kundalini Yoga offers safe and instructive practices that open up energetic pathways within our body, allowing us to experience health, love, empathy, abundance, intuition and an expanded sense of connection with others. By a combination of posture exercises, breathwork and meditation, Kundalini Yoga quite literally increases our source of energy by synchronizing the impulses of our nervous system, balancing our hormones through the endocrine system and releasing toxins out of our lymphatic system. Our physical and energetic bodies are extensions of each other, intertwined and moving as a unified machine, and so it is important to recognize when our energy affects our body and when what we do with our body affects our energy. This practice allows us to shed the layers of shielding we have built within ourselves so that our aura may shine with the magnetism each one of us are born with. Unlike other styles of yoga that can take years of practice to master, Kundalini Yoga is affective from the first day of practice and is inviting and accessible to beginner yogis or those with limited mobility or injuries. It is an ancient technology that has proven to change people’s lives (mine included!) in miraculous ways that even modern science is only now beginning to understand. The energy field in and around the physical body and the breath are the missing links to true, independent wellness and practicing Kundalini allows a direct path to this activation. It is through the yearning for self-actualization that we devote ourselves to energetic balance and harmony, to discover that deep connection with our true nature of spirit and embrace it daily as a lived experience. My 500-hour yoga teacher training specializes in Kundalini Yoga and so I welcome you to join me on this remarkable journey to self-rediscovery to unveil the brilliance of your inner light.

Kundalini Essentials

Mantras

Mantras are words or a sound that is repeated as a focal point of concentration, directing energy towards what we want to cultivate. Focus and repetition allows the neuropathways in our brain to signal new synapses to work together, creating new perspective and action.

Bhandas

A Bhanda is a lock or bind used to direct the flow of prana to certain body parts in order to regulate energy. There are three main bhandas- mula (located at the perineum), uddiyana (located at the navel) and jalandhara (located at the neck) that are used to create the “master lock”- maha bhand (holding all three simultaneously). The purpose of holding bhandas is to contain energy within the body as a focal point, allowing its fullest potency to release oxygen into our bloodstream and revitalize our cells to function optimally.

Breath of Fire

Breath of Fire is a yogic pranayama and is one of the foundational techniques used in practicing Kundalini Yoga. It is a powerful diaphragmatic breath that allows oxygen to disperse actively throughout the body, clearing toxins from our lungs, blood vessels and cells. BoF increases our lung capacity, repairs balance between our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and aids in reducing stress. It also strengthens our digestive tract and increases physical endurance. It is a fast and effective way to synchronize our body’s biorhythms, boosting immune function and helping prevent diseases.

Mudras

A mudra is a symbolic or ritual hand gesture in yoga, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism that is said to have a powerful effect on our prana (life force energy). There are believed to be as many as 400 different types of mudras and each one is unique in symbolism and has a specific effect on impacting and clearing energetic pathways through meridian points. The most known mudras are held using hands (hasta) however there are also body mudras (kaya) and consciousness (citta) mudras.
